How do I get a quote?
We offer two simple ways:

How long does it take to print and bind my Thesis?
Our production time is now 3 – 10 business days from the next working day that we receive your order. Delivery occurs after this and the timeframe can vary based on where the delivery needs to go. However, we will always do our best to accommodate your timeline.

What are the costs?
The total cost to print and bind a thesis can vary considerably depending on the customizations you choose. As a rough benchmark, a basic print and bind thesis is around Ksh.1500 per book.

Do you offer a discount for bulk orders?
We have special discounts available when you order more than one thesis. Its best to order all of your copies at the same time so you can maximize your savings.

How can I pay for my thesis?
You can make cheque payments, Mpesa or cash when you collect your bound thesis from our bindery.

Printing:

What are the printing costs?
Printing: Ksh. 10 per black and white page, Ksh. 15 per colour page. No extra charge for single sided printing.

What paper do you use for thesis printing? Can you print on archival paper if needed?
We always insist on low/neutral acid, sustainable 100gsm paper with archival qualities. We constantly monitor the paper to ensure it meets the expectations in regards to quality and consistency.

Am I able to drop my printed pages for binding?
You are welcome to deliver your printed pages to us Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm.

Will the Colors on the Proof Be Accurate?
When viewing PDF proofs on your monitor or from your desktop printer keep in mind there will be a slight variance in color, so Turningpoint Edge cannot guarantee the printed color(s) will match the PDF preview. However, the PDF proof will be a close representation of the finished piece.

Will the printed piece match the colors on my monitor and/or desktop printer?
Commercial printing creates full-color images by applying Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black inks in successive layers. This is known as 4 colour process or CMYK printing. The colors generated by your computer monitor or desktop printer on the other hand, are a mixture of Red, Green and Blue(RGB). Because CMYK and RGB are completely different modes for creating colors, they often produce results that do not match exactly.

Document Specifications:

What margins do I need to leave for binding?
We ask that you leave a 5mm margin for binding/trimming on all four edges of the page.

What format does my thesis need to be in for you to print?
In order to maintain all formatting, fonts, etc. we require that you send your file to us in a high – resolution PDF format.
Other preferred file formats include

  • Corel Draw


What are some common problems with submitted files?

Improper set-up for Bleeds:
Make sure to extend your artwork 1/8” beyond the edges that Bleed. Also, do not put important information or borders too close to the edges that get trimmed off.

Poor image Resolution:
Images must be at least 300 dpi for proper clarity. Do not use images from the web because they are generally low resolution and will appear jagged and blurry when printed.

Text and Grammar issues:
Make sure your text has good contrast against its background. Make sure to proofread your file for spelling and grammar errors before forwarding it to us.

Conner marks:
Please include the Conner marks on your artwork and make sure they are properly placed. Also please remove all unnecessary marks.

Can you bind a thesis that is not A4 or is an odd size?
We can bind any book of any shape or size. You are welcome to deliver your printed pages to us Monday to Friday, 9am – 3.30pm.

Do you offer help with getting my file ready to print?
If you are struggling to get your thesis file just right, we have engaged a specialist copy editor to help you through the process. From formatting margins to repositioning page numbers and managing image resolution.

Can you help with my university’s requirements?
We have completed thesis binding for every university in Kenya so we are well versed in the specific requirements for most universities. If we don’t know, we’ll make it our job to find out.

If there is an error in my thesis, how can it be fixed?
It is both difficult and problematic to remove an order to make any changes. If you absolutely must make a change to the existing order, there is a fee to make a change to an already submitted order. There is no charge to cancel an order and resubmit, but you may miss out on your expected delivery day.

Are there any other book cloths available?
We have a fantastic range of linen feel, PVC and many other cloths. Our suppliers are constantly sourcing new and interesting ranges. Why not come into our bindery and see what options we have available?

Are there any optional extras I can add to my thesis binding?
Additional inclusions are: – book ribbons, marbled end papers. All of these and more are available on our order form.

What is the maximum number of pages you can bind in one book?
We are able to bind a maximum of around 500 sheets of paper. While we can employ a different binding process for larger books, we recommend splitting into two volumes, for ease of storage, transport and of course, reading.

What is the minimum number of pages you can bind in a book?
The thinnest book we have bound is 20 pages, although we are confident that 1 page is the minimum and this is not cost effective though.

Foiling Lettering:

Do you do foil lettering? 

Yes, we do foil lettering.
I have a very long title.

Can you fit it on the front and spine of my thesis?
We have a number of different sizes of our thesis fonts. This allows us to select a slightly smaller font size when there are many words in a thesis title. In 99% of orders, we have no problem fitting long titles onto the spine of a thesis.

Delivery & Pick Up:

What delivery methods do you use?
We always strive to use the most economical method to deliver your work When receiving your product, we urge you to check for any outwards signs of damage or shortage before signing the delivery note. If you see any damages or shortages, please contact us before signing.

Do you offer a product guarantee?
Yes, Turningpoint Edge offers a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. If you are not happy with your product, notify us within seven (7) business days of receiving your order. If the product is deemed to be faulty, we will, at our discretion, redo your order to the original specifications. Do you Guarantee the Dispatch Date/Delivery Date of an order?
Every effort will be made to hit your target delivery date. However, sometimes an unforeseen factor could lead to a delay. For example, an equipment malfunction, power outage, traffic jam, etc cannot always be known in advance. That is why we are unable to offer an absolute guarantee on the delivery date.

Can you deliver to my university?
We can deliver to any address in Kenya. Deliveries that are significantly outside of normal delivery areas may incur costs.

Can I come and collect the thesis when they are completed?
Yes, of course. Let us know if you prefer this option, and we will notify you when your order is available to collect.

Our Showroom:

Do you have a showroom where I can see samples of your work and choose my cover colors and lettering options?
You are welcome to visit our office Monday to Friday 9.30 am – 3.30pm. While we are almost always working in the Bindery, we ask that you make a quick call to us if you plan to visit us.

What are your opening hours?
Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm.

I work during those hours. Is there some way I can drop off my printed pages?
Yes, we have a solution for you to deliver to us after hours, please contact us so we can make arrangements with you.

Are you open on weekends?
We are not generally open on weekends, however, there are times we might be available to assist you with dropping off or collecting after hours.
